I had a couple of hours to kill before catching my train in Penn’s Station. I wanted to sit by myself, eat a good New York breakfast and move on with my day. I spent a few hours on Instagram trying to find a place that will fulfill all my necessities and came across Murray’s Bagels. Apparently, Murray’s has been given many awards because of its amazing, mouth-watering bagels.
I’ll be completely honest, I scanned its menu even before brushing my teeth. As the good Jewish girl that I am, I always eat my bagel with cream cheese and lox (cured salmon). It’s a Saturday morning staple. But I knew it was time to change the way I eat my bagel. After reading THE ENTIRE menu three times, I decided to go for an egg omelet on an everything bagel! Toasted, obviously.
I have to say that it was the best bagel I have eaten in my entire life. The thing is, I am used to the New York bagel-knock offs or the Montreal bagels (completely different kind of bagels) so this one was a different experience to me. The bagel was toasted, very dense and with a lot of the everything bagel toppings. I am talking about real onion and garlic, poppy seeds and sesame seeds. It was perfection. The omelet was made of a whole egg – I am sorry but I do not like egg white omelets- and cheddar cheese inside it. I would have rather eaten my omelet with swiss cheese instead, which it offers on its menu.
Now for the coffee. I am a self-claimed coffee connoisseur, I can drink coffee all-day, every-day without even getting the jitters. I didn’t enjoy the hot coffee Murray’s Bagels offer, it tasted like instant coffee to me. I did enjoy the iced coffee, though, and it was especially delicious with almond milk.
