You must know my love for Italian food by now. I would choose a plate of gnocchi with alfredo sauce over any other plate. Yes, I would choose it over sushi or pizza. As soon as I walked into Ristorante Villagio I knew that I was, once again, going to eat my favorite plate of food.

The restaurant is located at Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall. It’s right outside the shopping area, near the designer stores. I personally didn’t expect to eat at such elegant place at an outlet mall. Normally, I would eat a quick bite at the food court or at a restaurant chain (because those are the ones I am used to seeing at malls). But Villagio was nothing like those. The ceilings were high, and the bar in the middle of the restaurant was white with neon lights. Each table had a white tablecloth, a set of plates to eat a three-meal course, and if the ladies at the table were carrying handbags, the wait staff will bring a small coat hanger to  put next to the table so you can eat comfortably without worrying about your purse.

The bread at the restaurant was warm and soft. It was served with thin bread with Prmesan cheese that lasted exactly 20 seconds on our table. It was crunchy, salty and the kick of the Parmesan cheese mixed with the marmalade that it came with made this the perfect way of starting our meal.

We skipped appetizers, and went straight to the main courses. I obviously asked for the gnocchi with alfredo sauce. The sauce was a little bit dull for my taste, I was expecting more of a cheesy aftertaste. I asked for a little bit of marinara sauce on the side, and mixed it into my dish to get a blush sauce. Best decision ever. The creaminess of the alfredo sauce mixed with the tartness of the marinara sauce made me really happy, and of course I asked for some parmesan cheese to satisfy my cravings.

The spinach and cheese ravioli was amazing too. It came with a truffle cream sauce and oh my, I regretted ordering my gnocchi. Yes, the ravioli was that good. The pasta was cooked al dente, and that is exactly how I like my raviolis to be like. The stuffing was a mix of ricotta cheese and spinach. And the sauce. I can write pages about how good the sauce was. The cream was both buttery and creamy, and the black truffle was the best part of it.

The salmon was also extremely good. It was juicy on the inside, and the skin was nice and crispy. I normally don’t order salmon because I am not a big fan of it when it is cooked, but this one was so good that again, I questioned my choice of gnocchi. Next time I go to Villagio, I know that I should share with someone the salmon and the gnocchi to have the best of both worlds.

Lastly, the minestrone soup. The mix of tomatoes and vegetables was incredible. It was not to heavy, and it was actually quite refreshing. I am a huge fan of garlic, and this one had a lot of it. It also had green beans, white beans and carrots. The perfect healthy option when dining out.

Jewtina Tips: Go to this restaurant either before noon or after 2 p.m. to assure that the waiting time won’t be as long.

Teenu- Disfruta- Enjoy!
